Below is an English translation of my article for the online journal of the Research Project on Renewable Energy Economics for the Graduate School of Economics, Kyoto University, originally in Japanese, which appeared in 2 parts, in January 2024, hereby adopted. Since it was first published, the market condition for offshore wind has deteriorated due to inflation, supply chain bottlenecks, regulatory hurdles and a few crazy tyrant and megalomanic president. However, the message of the article is still the same: build more floating offshore wind.

日本国内でトップレベルの風力の導入ポテンシャルを誇る青森県において、本年4月に青森港が「基地港湾」の指定を受けました。
青森県においては、沿岸部の着床型洋上風力発電に始まり、将来的には沿岸部より離れた浮体式洋上風力発電へ向けて数十年単位での導入が見込まれます。より高い経済波及効果を享受すべく、地域において産業の裾野を広げることを考えるセミナーを開催します。
